Dr Nick Broughton's first role in the pharmaceutical industry was as a Clinical Research Manager of Phase II and III studies at Sanofi Winthrop. He then worked as a Medical Adviser in the cardiovascular and respiratory therapy areas at MSD. The majority of his pharmaceutical career has been at AstraZeneca, where he worked as a UK Cardiovascular Medical Affairs Manager and then Head of Medical Affairs. He gained international experience as European Director of Regulatory Affairs, implementing regulatory strategy across primary and secondary care brands in 10 European markets.

Most recently he joined the new UK and Ireland subsidiary of a US biopharmaceutical company as Medical Director, where he recruited and developed a complete medical department for the launch of a novel treatment for haematological malignancy. This specialist care product required the implementation of an extensive risk minimisation plan agreed with regulatory agencies.
